Tucker Receives Invite To NFL HBCU Scouting Combine

Former Prairie View A&M University running back Dawonya Tucker received an invite to attend the NFL 2021 HBCU Scouting Combine that will be held in Birmingham, Alabama. The combine was originally scheduled to be held in Miami back in March 2020 but had to be cancelled due to the quarantine caused by COVID-19.

The partnership between the NFL and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) was designed to offer exposure to NFL prospects who are eligible for the draft but were not formally invited to the annual Scouting Combine.

Tucker gained national recognition in 2018 when he rushed for over 220 yards in back-to-back games against North Carolina Central (224) and Sam Houston State (245). He finished the 2018 campaign with 1,096 yards where he gained Second Team All-SWAC honors.

The following year was a repeat performance for the Terrell, Texas native as he once again rushed for over 1,000 yards on the season (1,104) and was awarded an All-SWAC selection. He also set the Prairie View single-game rushing record with 263 yards in the State Fair Classic against the Grambling State Tigers.

The announcement was made via social media through Tucker’s personal page.
