Protect the Ball: Panthers 5 turnovers costs them the game against the Jaguars

Prairie View, Texas - - Any football coach from Pop Warner to the NFL will tell you that your number one priority on offense is to protect the ball. Any time you turn the ball over, especially in the red-zone, you kill your offensive momentum and miss an opportunity to put points on the scoreboard. Prairie View A&M (3-4, 2-1) learned that lesson the hard way in a 38-0 blowout to SWAC rival, Southern Jaguars (3-3, 2-1).

Led by junior quarterback Ladarius Skelton, the Jaguars offensive fire power was on full display with four touchdowns (3 rushing and 1 passing). Skelton also had 370 yards of total offense as Southern had little trouble scoring the ball putting up 17 points on their first three drives of the half on their way to a 24-0 lead at the half.

The Jaguars defense also stepped up by forcing 5 interceptions from PV quarterback Jalen Morton, who came into the game leading the SWAC in passing. He ended his day by going 18 of 41 for 251 yards and those dreadful 5 picks. The Panthers will have a bye week before facing 5-2 Alcorn State on October 27th.
