Gaelle Hosts Houston Iconic Fashion Week Charity Show

After ripping the runways in Africa and Paris, penetrating fashion brand, Gaelle brought her intrinsic designs to Houston for a four-day fashion event dubbed Houston Iconic Fashion Week. Houston Style Magazine was of course on the scene at the culminating activity of the week that was a night full of glitz and glamour at the Houston Iconic Fashion Week Charity Show. Ending everything on a high note, the show was hosted by designer and stylist best known as the long-time fashion mind behind legendary R&B star Beyoncé, Ty Hunter and South African media personality Bonang Matheba.

The highly sought after affair was held at Saks 51fifteen Cuisine and Cocktails inside the Galleria. West African fashion brand, Gaelle, and the Ray of Sun Foundation co-hosted the event. Fashionists in attendance at the show were able to preview the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 collection of Gaelle, Karl Kani, Laurence Basse (Project Runway Season 15), Ty Hunter, 2 African Girls, Lewa Ayaba, Blessed Are The Meek, Pinkie Blue Kids and Travis Cal. as well as host an exclusive VIP lounge and Pop-up shop hosted by Stylist, TV Personality and host of GooRU style, Goo Goo Atkins.

Following the show, Karl Kani received the “Iconic Legacy” award. Joy Sewing, Fashion Editor of the Houston Chronicle, received the “Iconic Journalism” award.

Houston Iconic Fashion Week prides itself in “setting the first milestone in avant-garde fashion and entertainment on the southern coast.” Houston channeled their inner fashionista and showed out. Some walking the red carpet were Houston’s own radio personality Devi Brown, comedian Dulo, Claire Sulmers, founder of Fashion Bomb Daily, and actress Imani Hakim.

The overall theme of Houston Iconic Fashion Week was to marry fashion and charity. Hence, a portion of the proceeds from the show will be donated to the Ray of Sun Foundation. The Ray of Sun Foundation cultivates minority children by teaching them how to code.
