Beyond the Rhetoric: When the Obama White House attacked the NBCC -Part 2

Yes, it was quite a victory for business organizations. We stopped the Cap and Trade Bill dead in it tracks. This would be the start of a pro-business movement knocking down the majority of President Obama’s Environmental and Regulatory Platforms. His view of an economic agenda for the Black middle class was expanding welfare and Medicaid – even free phones. Ours was to solidify our economic infrastructure and, therefore, create growth in business development and attractive jobs.

Council Member Dave Martin's District E Newsletter - July 2017

As we head further into summer, my City Council colleagues and I continue to fight for district projects in the City of Houston's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Since being sworn into office, I continue to see, year after year, the amount of tax dollars for CIP projects allocated inequitably across the 11 council districts. This year's proposed plan, which was given to city council members late last week, shows a total of 7% of all CIP dollars going towards District E, doubling the amount of CIP dollars we received last year. Last year District E only received 3% of the total CIP dollars distributed among Council Districts.

Las Terrazas Resort in Belize; The Resort That Has Everything

Located 3.5 miles north of San Pedro, tucked away in the small country of Belize is a secret treasure called the Las Terrazas Resort. With its white sand beaches that go on for miles and tall palm trees swaying in the wind, it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited on earth and one of the most tranquil. Hard to believe it is just two and a half hours away from the states. In order to get to Las Terrazas, I had to land at the main airport in Belize City, take another plane to a small island and board a boat to get to my final destination of paradise.
