The moment I learned of the shooting at Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo, NY I was shocked and saddened, which turned to anger and then disgust. I knew many of the persons killed and even campaigned door to door with Kat Massey and gave her a ride home in my car. In fact, going to the site of Tops was beyond painful. The Massacre of the Buffalo Ten took the lives of innocent people, shattering the lives of their families and the community. The Massacre shed a much-needed national spotlight on the severe neglect of the area, far beyond the fact that there was only one major supermarket in the neighborhood.

PUCT Echoes ERCOT Conservation Request Ahead of Expected Tight Grid Conditions

Appeal for Conservation Effective Today, Aug. 29 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. CT

Unexpected loss of thermal generation and expected low wind generation will result in anticipated low operating reserves for the Texas power grid this afternoon and into the evening. The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) is echoing a call from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) asking Texans to conserve electricity use, if safe to do so, today from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. CT. ERCOT expects similar conditions to persist through tomorrow and asks Texans to stay tuned for additional communications.
