Now in its eighth year, H-E-B Quest for Texas Best has expanded its search for the finest foods and beverages in the Lone Star State to also include non-food items. In addition to food creators and innovators, Texas-based purveyors of beauty items, toys, home goods, household necessities, gardening supplies, coolers and everything in between are now invited to join!

For the last decade, AHF aggressively promoted syphilis awareness, prevention and treatment, including ringing the alarm about congenital syphilis as far back as 2017, ‘18 and ’19 with County officials and the public, including a billboard campaign headlined ‘Syphilis Can Be Fatal to Your Baby,’ after cases exploded from 6 in 2012 in L.A. County to 44 cases in 2017

The annual competition expands beyond food products to include submissions for non-food items
Now in its eighth year, H-E-B Quest for Texas Best has expanded its search for the finest foods and beverages in the Lone Star State to also include non-food items. In addition to food creators and innovators, Texas-based purveyors of beauty items, toys, home goods, household necessities, gardening supplies, coolers and everything in between are now invited to join! The call for entries is now open, and submissions will be accepted February 24th through April 7th. Qualified participants will compete for a combined $70,000 in cash prizes and the opportunity to feature their product on H-E-B shelves across the state.

Attorney, author, actress, and award-winning TV producer Juanita Ingram, Esq. was recently crowned Mrs. Universe (R) 2022 on August 24 in Miami, Florida by the Ms. World Corporation ("MWI"). Over 75 contestants represented countries around the world, Ingram is the first Black Woman to be crowned the title. A Tennessee native , Ingram lives in Singapore with her husband and two children. On behalf of the National Black Chamber of Commerce, I am writing to request help from you and the Financial Services Committee with the Protecting Consumers from Debt Traps and Unreasonable Rates Act, the Military Veteran and Vulnerable Consumer Usury Protection Act of 2019, and any related legislation, to make sure that potential negative impacts on the African American community and especially on African American entrepreneurs are identified and mitigated well before the legislation is considered. For several reasons, we are especially concerned about the idea of imposing a 36% usury rate cap.
