Prairie View’s Next Opponent Is Seeking Revenge
The Panthers will need a repeat performance of that defensive effort as they prepare to take on another long-time rival, Grambling State University in the State Fair Classic this Saturday.
Yordan Alvarez Delivers Crushing Blow To The Mariners With Walk-Off Home Run In ALDS Game 1
“It was a very special moment,” said Alvarez, who finished the game going 3-for-5 at the plate with five RBI. “When I hit the ball and saw the ball go, I could feel all the fans getting super loud and excited. I think it was one of the most special moments in my career.”
Second Half Defensive Effort Helps Panthers Extend Winning Streak To Six Games
For three quarters on Saturday at Blackshear Field, it looked as if the Prairie View A&M football team was heading towards disappointing all the extra fans in attendance. They trailed Alabama State by double digits heading into the fourth quarter until a pair of touchdowns helped the Panthers pull off the 24-20 victory over the Hornets.
A Family Of One: Houston Astros Headed To Their Fifth Consecutive ALCS
For the last two postseasons, the Houston Astros have had to deal with the fallout from the sign-stealing scandal they admitted to being a part of back in 2017. The absences of fans in the stands last season allowed the Astros to escape from the profanity-laced insults and hatred that continued throughout social media and airwaves across the country in other baseball cities. Yet, through it, all Houston continued to do what they have done in the past. Stick together and win games as a unit that moves as one.
Fountain of Youth: Rockets looking for their “Used to Be” mentality with the addition of two players from the G-League.
With an 11-23 record in the first half of the 2020-21 NBA season and a current 13-game losing streak, the Houston Rockets took their bucket to the fountain of youth (G-League affiliate Rio Grande Vipers) looking for some of that “Used to Be” from earlier in the season and came up with two young and athletic players in Kevin Porter Jr. and KJ Martin.
Bringing that same energy
There is just something different about Houston Texans safety, Michael Thomas. Spend five minutes around him and you can’t help but to recognize his southern hospitality and energy. Thomas met with the media on Saturday after training camp practice and brought the same fervor and tenacity that he brings to the field as he talked about the social injustice issues that surround our society.
Coming Attraction: Houston Texans Hold 2018 OTA’s
One thing I love about going to the movies is the previews of new films before the main attraction. They show you a small clip of a finished movie that is due for release in a couple of months. That short 30 seconds to a minute showing gets you all excited for what’s to come.
Ready for Relaunch
Rockets prepare for the NBA season to resume
The NBA is preparing to resume its 2019-20 season at the end of this month with 22-teams playing eight games for seeding purposes for the playoffs. Those games are scheduled to take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney Resort in Florida.
Astros Look Very Unfamiliar One Week Later Against the Orioles
“It was all good just a week ago,” hip hop legend Jay-Z bellowed on his song ‘A Week Ago’ off his Vol. 2…Hard Knock Life album. Those lyrics literally describes the Houston Astros who find themselves in the midst of a three-game losing streak after losing to the Baltimore Orioles 13-3 at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday night.
Astros Get Swept By One Of The Worst Team In Baseball
Houston was 5-0 to start the second half of the season, rolling into Oakland (38-63) to play the A’s, who was 30 games of first place in the American League West Division. As they boarded the plane headed back home, they must be scratching their heads, wondering how they were swept for the first time this season by a team who is 25 games under .500.
The Shot Heard Around Houston
Bregman’s 100th career homerun leads Astros to victory over the Mariners
One day after having their 15-game winning streak snapped against divisional foe Seattle Mariners, the Houston Astros (3-1) got back to some familiar ground on Monday night and that is dominating the Mariners (1-3). Houston scored runs in three consecutive innings to defeat Seattle 8-5 and take the series 3-1.
Welcome Back
Lance McCullers earns first victory almost two years to the date of last start
The city of Houston experienced a temperature drop due to the rain that continuously poured down from the skies for hours on Saturday. Yet Minute Maid Park must have felt as hot as the desert for the Seattle Mariners as the Houston Astros brought the heat at the plate for the second game in a row. The Astros (2-0) defeated the Mariners (0-2) by a score of 7-2.
Tucker Named AL Player Of The Month For Sept-Oct
On Monday, Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker was named the American League Player of the Month for September-October. It is the first Player of the Month award of his career, and he became the first Astros player to win it since third baseman Alex Bregman won it back in August of 2019.
Cold Bats Leads To Another Astros Loss
What started out as a great homestand seemed to turn quickly on the Houston Astros. After opening up the three-game series against the Oakland A’s with a 6-2 victory in game one, the big bats for Houston suddenly went cold. Oakland’s 7-3 gives them their third win of the season and evens the series against Houston at one a piece after taking back-to-back games in Minute Maid Park.
Help Is On The Way
Now I don’t know how spiritual Rockets Head Coach Stephen Silas is, but if I have to take an educated guess, I will say that he has done some praying in his alone time or maybe even on the bench during this current 18-game losing streak which is also a franchise record.
2020 Disappointment, Brings Astros Joy In 2021
Fast forward to 2021, and it looked as if the Astros would find themselves on the losing end of another ALCS. The Boston Red Sox had all the momentum, as they led the best-of-seven series 2-1 at home and headed towards a commanding 3-1 lead before a solo home run by Jose Altuve in the top of the eighth inning of Game 4 tied the game. That seemed to awaken the Astros bats as they would score seven more runs in the next inning and even the series at two games apiece.
Déjà Vu
Altuve’s walk-off homerun sends the Astros to the World Series.
If you closed your eyes tonight and just listen to the fans, you would think it was October 21, 2017 all over again. On that Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd in Minute Maid Park the Houston Astros defeated the New York Yankees 4-0 to earn their second trip to the World Series in franchise history. We all know how that ended with the Astros winning their first ever World Series title against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Astros Outfielder Heads To The IL
The Astros got some bad news on Friday as the team learned that OF Michael Brantley was headed to the 10-day Injured List due to tightness in his right hamstring. His stint was retroactive to May 25.
“Friends”
Roommates Bielak and Taylor shuts down the Rockies to extend winning streak to five games
The sitcom “Friends” was a mega-hit on television networks about six individuals who lived in Manhattan, New York who had their personal and professional lives followed on a daily basis. On that show were two roommates that were always up to some sort of shenanigans and they had uncanny ability to make everyone around them feel comfortable.

Astros defeat the Rangers 3-2 to reach 100-wins for third straight year
It is not often a baseball fan gets to witness the team they cheer for get 100 wins in a season. On tonight, 38,417 fans did. The Astros (100-53) defeated the Texas Rangers (74-79) 3-2 behind a strong pitching performance from the Major League leader in strikeouts, Gerrit Cole (18-5). He also became the fastest pitcher in Astros history to reach 300 strikeouts in a season. The last pitchers to reach such an accomplishment were Mike Scott in 1986 (306) and J.R. Richards, who did it twice in 1978 (307) and 1979 (313).
