Rookie Quarterback C.J. Stroud's Pregame Ritual, Breaks for Mom, Sparks Playoff Victory

Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud has a pregame routine that he dislikes breaking. He walks, stretches, swings a golf club, and takes a couple of pretend jump shots with a basketball before he picks up a football for warmup throws.

America’s Team: Team Fighting Cancer Wins Inaugural Championship

Houston – Do you remember when you were younger playing a game of tag at school? And there were always those couple of kids you just didn’t run after because they were too fast to catch. That is what over 6,500 fans in attendance got a chance to witness at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas. The American Flag Football Championship was played in front of a crowd that included Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, Texans defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, and a host of other current and former NFL players who perused up and down the sidelines during the game. Yes, they were all pretty fast to catch.

Sometimes in the midst of trying to find yourself and come to a point of peace and tranquility, you lose yourself to adversity. There will be some trials and tribulations that will come before you can finally reach that place in your life where no problem is worth stressing over.

Offensive Explosion: Houston Texans Move Into Tie for First Place By Scoring a Franchise High in Points

The Houston Texans ranked next to last in 2016 in the first half scoring in at 8.6 points. They scored 30 points in the first half in this past Sunday’s game. They ended up winning the game in a convincing fashion, (57-14) and put the rest of the AFC South on notice that they are here to stay. This was the most points scored by the Texans in a game in franchise history (previous record was 45 against the same Titans team back in 2014).

Rockets rally comes up short in Philadelphia

I am a firm believer that most individuals believe that there are no such things as moral victories in professional sports. Many have the mindset like the majority of the athletes that only wins, and losses are the only thing that shows up in the standings.

On Tuesday night the Houston Rockets got a chance to do something they have not been able to do this entire season and that was to have fun. They defeated the visiting Washington Wizards 107-88 at Toyota Center to improve to 7-9 and are now on a three-game winning streak.

Groundhog Day: Astros Continue Their Winning Ways On Ring Ceremony Night

In 1993, a movie came out about a weatherman who was sent to cover an annual Groundhog Day ceremony. A crowd gathers and waits for the groundhog to come out and predict the weather for the next six weeks. In the movie, the weatherman keeps reliving the same day over and over again.

Selection Sunday: UH Cougars Have High Hopes to Make the “Big Dance”

In days, college students, players, and fans will sit in front of their televisions waiting for the big announcement on who their basketball team will be playing in the first game of the second season. That’s right people, March Madness is back. The NCAA will pick 68 teams from various Men’s Division 1 basketball programs on Selection Sunday (March 11) to make up the 2018 tournament bracket. For the University of Houston men’s basketball team, that day will mean so much more.

McCullers Dominates The White Sox.

As the start of the second half of the season kicked off, the Houston Astros picked up right where they left off. After defeating the New York Yankees in an exhilarating six-run ninth inning comeback going into the All-Star break, Houston used that momentum and defeated one of the American League’s best team in the Chicago White Sox by a score of 7-1.

Simplicity Will Take You Far In The NFL

Sometimes in life you have to just clear your mind and do what comes natural to you. If I could have a side conversation with Texans rookie quarterback Davis Mills, that would be exactly what I would tell him. I am by no means quarterback guru, nor will I ever claim to have played the quarterback position at the level on which Mills is on, but I do know about overthinking a situation.

Heart and Soul: Houston Rockets Guard Patrick Beverly

Anyone who has watched the Houston Rockets can tell who the #1 player on the court is for them, James Harden. There is no debating that when it comes to talent and leadership, Harden is the man. But there is another player on the court who displays those same qualities and could be clearly seen as #2 when it comes to leadership. Ironically, #2 is his jersey number as well. Houston Rockets’ guard Patrick Beverly brings pure grit and determination as soon as he laces up his sneakers.

The Real MVP: Who Deserves It in the NBA?

“You sacrificed for us. You the real MVP,” said current Golden State Warrior small forward Kevin Durant who received the Most Valuable Player in the 2013-14 season of the NBA as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Who knew that those words would be the most profound ones of that entire speech? Well, that and the fact he said thank you to Russell Westbrook for always being there for him and he loves playing with him. Two years later. He was gone.

Heat Wave: Houston Texans 2018 Rookie Minicamp

If anyone is interested in moving to the city of Houston, let me give you a bit of advice. From April until October it gets extremely hot and humid in the middle of the day, and the temperature just keeps rising as the day goes on.

Houston Strong: Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Walking from the parking lot to the NRG Stadium you could feel an overwhelming spirit resonating throughout the air. Something that wasn’t felt over a week ago when the city was in the midst of a catastrophic natural disaster, Hurricane Harvey. The hurricane was an event that the residents of Houston and surrounding areas are still recovering from. Normalcy was the one thing that the city needed and the Houston Texans looked to help restore the city.

Controlled Aggression

Russell Westbrook energy on the court makes the Rockets a contender in the West.

Most fans in Houston were expecting some bumps in the road to start the 2019-20 season when the Rockets acquired former NBA MVP and energizer bunny, Russell Westbrook, this past offseason via trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Houston had endured that form of misery when they acquired future NBA Hall of Famer, Chris Paul two seasons ago from the Los Angeles Clippers. Last season they were counted out by the national media when at one point they dwelled at the bottom of the Western Conference before James Harden turned their season around with a plethora of 50-point scoring performances.

When It Rains, It Pours

Texans lose 34-0 to the Cowboys

There is an old saying that I heard growing up that is drenched (no pun intended) in negativity that states, “When it rains it pours.” The original phrase is an old English proverb, “It never rains but it pours,” suggested that when troubles come, they come one after the other.

Identity Check The Rockets have established themselves during six-game winning streak.

Two weeks ago, the Houston Rockets was a team with no identity. They had just lost their third game in a row to drop their record to 4-9. The rotation was about as stable as a three-legged table due to injuries, health and safety protocols in accordance with league policy on COVID-19 and the trade of franchise superstar James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. Those were just some of the things keeping head coach Stephen Silas up late at night.
