Flood Control District Monitoring Potential Bayou and Channel Flooding

Flash flooding is possible with street flooding

The Harris County Flood Control District is monitoring the potential for heavy rainfall over the area with a flash flood threat Monday night into Tuesday morning. A Flood Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for Harris County from 7:00 p.m. Monday evening until 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Widespread rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches north of I-10 are expected with isolated totals of 6-7 inches possible and totals of 1-3 inches south of I-10. Street flooding will be the main concern with hourly rainfall rates of 2-3 inches across urban areas. Rapid rises of bayous and creeks potentially to bankfull will be possible depending on the intensity and longevity of the rainfall.
