Before being sworn-in as Congressman Sylvester Turner, representing Houston’s 18th Congressional District, Rep.. Turner held a Pre-Swearing In Reception with his family, friends, business associates, and U.S. Reps Clever and Doggett on January 2, 2025. The following day Rep. Turner was sworn-in and took the oath given to him by Speaker of the House. The lifelong public servant and former Mayor of Houston, that has served Houston for 3 decades, will focus on securing federal resources, advocating for quality healthcare, addressing the rising cost of housing, and creating jobs that reflect the community’s strengths and needs. He is committed to fight to bring resources, quality healthcare, affordable housing, and jobs to the residents of the 18th Congressional District.
