Houston, TX — Empower CDC, together with its subsidiary Whitestone Development, will host the 2026 Empower(ed) to Restore: Expunction & Supportive Services Resource Clinic in partnership with Earl Carl Institute, Houston Lawyer Association, and community organizations on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at YET @ Finnigan Park, 4900 Providence Street, Houston, Texas 77020. The free community event is designed to help individuals better understand the expunction and record sealing process while connecting them with essential supportive services. 

The clinic will bring together legal professionals, nonprofit organizations, and service providers to offer educational information and connect attendees with resources that support long-term stability and success. Community members will have the opportunity to learn about eligibility for expungement and record sealing, ask questions, and explore programs that address critical needs beyond the legal process. 

In addition to expunction education, attendees will have access to organizations providing information on:

- SNAP and public benefits 

- Housing assistance 

- Re-entry support services 

- Health and wellness resources 

- Community-based supportive services 

- Additional local programs designed to strengthen individuals and families 

Removing barriers to employment, housing, and opportunity begins with ensuring people have access to information and trusted resources. The mission of the Empower(ed) to Restore clinic is to help individuals move forward by connecting them with legal guidance and community partners committed to supporting their success. The event is free and open to the public, with preregistration strongly encouraged. Community partners, service providers, and legal organizations will be on-site throughout the day to answer questions and provide information about available programs. 

The clinic is made possible through a L.I.S.C grant and the collaboration of the Earl Carl Institute, Houston Lawyer Association, and community partners committed to expanding access to justice and supportive services. Current supporting organizations include Texas Federation of the People, Harris County Public Health, Houston Food Bank Community Assistance Program, Community Health Choice, and additional community partners. 

Organizations interested in participating as resource vendors are encouraged to register in advance to assist with event planning and accommodations.
