No Tricks, Just Treats! BARC-O-Ween Offers Free Pet Adoptions on Halloween

Houston’s annual BARC-O-Ween returns Oct. 31 with waived adoption fees, family-friendly festivities and hundreds of pets hoping to find their forever homes.

Looking for a Halloween treat that could change a life? Houstonians can celebrate the spooky season by welcoming a furry friend into their family at BARC-O-Ween, the third annual Halloween adoption event hosted by BARC, the City of Houston’s Animal Shelter and Adoption Center.

The event takes place Saturday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at BARC, 3300 Carr St. With hundreds of pets waiting for loving homes, the event offers an opportunity for prospective pet owners to find a new companion while enjoying a day of Halloween fun.

All pet adoption fees will be waived, thanks to the Houston BARC Foundation and Miller Law Firm.

The family-friendly celebration will feature trunk-or-treating, themed photo opportunities, local vendors, community partners, giveaways, food trucks and beverages available for purchase. Saint Arnold Brewing will provide complimentary adult beverages, and the first 75 adopters will receive free Saint Arnold swag bags.

Halloween Fun With a Purpose

Beyond the costumes and festivities, BARC-O-Ween aims to connect animals with families and encourage pet adoption throughout the Houston community.

Visitors can shop with local vendors, including Pukin Hair Balls, Patitas Artesanal and Dirty Plant Affair. Community businesses such as Scarlet Wolf Dog Training, Zoomie's Pet Park and Serene Pet Support will also offer information about pet services, resources and responsible pet ownership.

The event is supported by the Houston BARC Foundation, Friends of BARC, Miller Law Firm, Tito's Vodka and Saint Arnold Brewing Company.

Admission is free, and guests of all ages are encouraged to wear family-friendly costumes. Outside pets are not permitted, with the exception of service animals.

Make Room for a New Best Friend

For families considering adding a pet to their household, BARC-O-Ween provides an opportunity to meet animals in need of loving homes while enjoying a festive community event.

With adoption fees waived for all pets, Houstonians can take the first step toward giving an animal a fresh start and gaining a loyal companion in return.

Ready to make a difference this Halloween? Bring the family, wear your favorite costume and visit BARC on Oct. 31. Your next best friend could be waiting for you.
