Jaguar has officially let the cat out of the bag—and this one runs entirely on electricity.
Unveiled October 6, 2026, in New York, the breathtaking Jaguar Type 01 is more than a new luxury automobile. It is the British marque’s declaration that the future of grand touring can be daring, dazzling and unmistakably Jaguar.
For Houston drivers who appreciate distinctive design, high performance and the freedom of the open road, this four-door electric grand tourer makes a compelling entrance. It also marks Jaguar’s most dramatic reinvention in generations.
A Century of Reinvention
Since the Jaguar name emerged in 1935, innovation has been part of the brand’s DNA. The XK120 brought postwar excitement; the 1961 E-Type became a rolling work of art; and the unconventional XJS challenged expectations. Jaguar even helped bring premium electric motoring into the mainstream with the I-PACE.
Now the Type 01 builds on that legacy rather than living in its rearview mirror.
Inspired by the provocative Type 00 concept unveiled in 2024, the production Type 01 features a commanding long hood, sweeping roofline, striking 23-inch wheels and a sculptural rear without a conventional window. A camera-based display provides rearward visibility. Its drag coefficient of 0.23 makes it Jaguar’s most aerodynamic vehicle yet.
Call the design bold. Call it controversial. Just don’t call it ordinary.
Power With a Purpose
Beneath those dramatic curves, three electric motors produce up to 1,015 horsepower and 1,007 pound-feet of torque. Jaguar estimates a breathtaking zero-to-60-mph sprint of just 3.1 seconds.
Its specially developed electric architecture combines an 118-kWh usable battery with an estimated driving range of up to 400 miles, pending final certification. For highway cruising at a sustained 75 mph, Jaguar projects up to 320 miles—an important distinction for long-distance Texas travel.
At a compatible 350-kW fast charger, the Type 01 could add as much as 200 miles of range in approximately 13 minutes under optimal conditions. Better still, U.S. models will feature North American Charging Standard compatibility and access to Tesla’s Supercharger network.
Inside, the atmosphere feels closer to a contemporary design gallery than a traditional cabin. Brass-inspired detailing, a 24-inch OLED driver display, a dramatic central spine and an immersive 38-speaker audio experience transform travel into an occasion. The stylish rear seating, however, prioritizes grand-tourer character over limousine-like spaciousness.
Houston, Meet the Future
Jaguar selected New York for its world premiere, welcomed actress Florence Pugh as a new brand ambassador and underscored a renewed focus on North America.
With U.S. pricing starting at $130,500, orders expected to open in early 2027 and first customer deliveries anticipated during the year’s second half, this extraordinary electric Jaguar will not be an everyday sight.
But perhaps that is precisely the point.
For a brand that has spent decades making beautiful machines that stir the imagination, Type 01 offers a promising new chapter: zero tailpipe emissions, exhilarating performance and enough personality to make even a Houston traffic jam feel fashionable.
