Blue Wave Gets the Bobblehead Treatment: Gina Hinojosa and James Talarico Honored With New Collectibles

For Texans who spent months volunteering, knocking on doors, making phone calls, donating, organizing and working toward a political change, there's now a fun keepsake to mark the moment: bobbleheads

The Texas blue wave is getting a collectible of its own!

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum has unveiled the first bobbleheads of Governor-elect Gina Hinojosa and Senator-elect James Talarico, commemorating their victories in the November 3 election.

For supporters who helped make the historic election results possible, the miniature figures offer a lighthearted way to remember a campaign season that brought plenty of political energy to Texas.

A little piece of Texas political history

The timing of the announcement comes just days after both candidates made history in Texas.

Hinojosa defeated Republican incumbent Greg Abbott, becoming the first Hispanic woman elected governor of Texas and the first Democrat to hold the office since Ann Richards. Talarico defeated Republican Ken Paxton to become the first Democrat elected to the U.S. Senate from Texas since 1988.

For the thousands of Texans who participated in the election effort, from campaign volunteers and neighborhood organizers to canvassers, donors and voters, the victories marked the culmination of months of work.

Now, those memories can have a permanent spot on a desk, bookshelf or collector's display.

What do the bobbleheads look like?

The collectibles feature each elected official standing on a circular red, white and blue stars-and-stripes base displaying their names.

  • Gina Hinojosa: Wearing white pants and an aqua blue top.
  • James Talarico: Wearing a dark suit with an open-collared white shirt.

Each bobblehead is individually numbered and limited to 2,026 pieces.

National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said the organization was excited to recognize the newly elected leaders with their first bobblehead figures.

"We are excited to unveil the first bobbleheads of newly elected Texas Governor Gina Hinojosa and U.S. Senator James Talarico to commemorate their historic victories," Sklar said. "These bobbleheads are sure to be popular among Governor Hinojosa and Senator Talarico supporters and people who follow politics."
