Families across the north Houston area will have an opportunity to explore specialized academic programs in one place as Aldine Independent School District prepares to host its annual Choice Schools Festival on Saturday, March 28.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center and will feature more than 30 Choice Schools serving students from pre-kindergarten through high school.
District officials say the festival is designed to give families a comprehensive look at the wide range of educational pathways available within Aldine ISD. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with principals, teachers, and program leaders, learn about specialized academic offerings across all grade levels, and experience student performances and demonstrations.
The festival also highlights the district’s growing portfolio of Choice Schools, which focus on areas such as college preparation, career and technical education, dual-language instruction, and leadership development.
Located in northeast Harris County, Aldine ISD is one of the largest school districts in the Houston region, serving tens of thousands of students across a diverse community. The district has expanded its school choice offerings in recent years to provide families with more personalized learning options and to better align academic programs with college and workforce pathways.
Ahead of the festival, the district is offering members of the media guided tours of select campuses during the week of March 23. Featured schools include HEAL at Nimitz High School, a health education and learning program developed in partnership with Memorial Hermann Health System that prepares students for careers in the medical field.
Also included is the Young Women’s Leadership Academy, which serves students in grades 6 through 12 with a focus on college readiness, leadership development, and STEM education, as well as Hinojosa Primary School, which offers a two-way dual-language program for incoming kindergarten students.
District leaders say the Choice Schools Festival serves as a one-stop opportunity for families to compare programs, ask questions, and identify the best fit for their students’ academic goals.
