Summer break is officially underway, and Children's Museum Houston is inviting families to celebrate with a season-long lineup of themed events, interactive activities, cultural celebrations, live entertainment, and hands-on learning experiences.
The museum's "Party All Summer Long" series runs throughout June, July, and August, transforming nearly every week into a new festival-inspired experience designed to blend creativity, STEM exploration, cultural discovery, and active play.
From colorful science experiments and giant soccer challenges to superhero encounters, holiday-themed celebrations, and ocean-inspired adventures, the summer schedule offers something for children of all ages.
The festivities kick off June 6 with the Pop of Color Party, featuring the popular Cosmic Color Throw, rainbow-themed science activities, bubble demonstrations, art projects, and colorful hands-on experiments throughout the museum.
Sports fans can look forward to a month packed with soccer-themed fun. The Let's Play Soccer Party on June 13 will feature oversized soccer darts, fitness challenges, robot soccer competitions, and the debut of the museum's summer musical, "Let's Play: Unraveled!" Additional soccer celebrations continue with the Global Goal Soccer Party on June 20 and the Final Kickoff Soccer Party on July 3.
Juneteenth Celebration
Children's Museum Houston will also host a two-day Juneteenth Celebration on June 18 and 19, featuring storytelling, live performances, art activities, and exhibits honoring history, resilience, and community leaders.
Popular character appearances are scheduled throughout the summer. Families can meet characters inspired by Toy Story favorites Woody, Buzz, and Jessie during the You Got a Friend in Me Party on June 27, while July brings appearances by Moana, Superman, and Supergirl. August begins with a Spider-Man-themed celebration complete with superhero activities and photo opportunities.
Holiday-themed events will add an extra layer of fun to the summer calendar. On July 4, the museum will celebrate America's 250th birthday with Kidpendence Day, featuring patriotic science demonstrations, giant games, face painting, and community art projects. Later in the month, Jingle in July will bring snowball battles, fake snow experiments, snow machines, and holiday-themed activities to Houston's summer heat.
Cultural celebrations remain a major focus throughout the season. Families can participate in the Tanabata Japanese Star Festival on July 12, featuring Japanese storytelling, origami, calligraphy, wish trees, and traditional crafts presented in partnership with the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston.
Science remains at the heart of many summer programs, with activities ranging from ice cream-making workshops and chemistry demonstrations to engineering challenges, coding activities, rocket launches, and hands-on maker projects.
In addition to the special events, visitors can explore the museum's newly opened Mixed Emotions exhibit, an interactive experience designed to help children and families better understand emotions through play, creativity, and social-emotional learning.
Adults will also have an opportunity to join the fun during Rewind & Play: Soccer Edition on June 27. The adults-only evening event transforms the museum into an after-hours social experience featuring interactive exhibits, games, music, and hands-on activities inspired by Houston's summer soccer excitement.
With themed celebrations scheduled nearly every week through August, Children's Museum Houston is offering families a summer filled with opportunities to learn, play, create, and make memories together.
Activities, event times, and programming are subject to change.
