Prairie View A&M University is starting 2026 with several leadership updates and program launches aimed at strengthening student success and academic excellence.
University College will launch on April 1 with Dr. Carmen R. Carter as its inaugural dean. The new college is designed to support the first two years of undergraduate study by coordinating advising, curriculum pathways, and early engagement to help students transition successfully into their majors.
Dr. Quincy C. Moore III is now dean of the Honors College, bringing experience as a biology professor and former director of the Honors Program. He will continue to support high-achieving students through research, leadership development, and scholarly projects.
The College of Business named Dr. Aneika L. Simmons as permanent dean after serving as interim dean for the past year. She will continue to lead initiatives in student success, faculty development, accreditation, and community engagement.
These leadership updates come as PVAMU prepares to celebrate its 150th anniversary, reinforcing the University’s commitment to academic excellence, continuity, and long-term institutional growth. Founded in 1876, PVAMU is one of the nation’s first public historically Black universities and continues to provide high-quality education and opportunities for students across Texas and beyond.
