The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Texas has announced its endorsement of U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the race for U.S. Senate, a contest that is expected to draw significant national and statewide attention.
SEIU Texas cited Crockett’s record on labor issues, noting that she has maintained a 100 percent pro-labor voting record during her service in both the Texas House of Representatives and the U.S. House. The union represents more than two million workers nationwide, including airport workers, janitors, food service employees, and hospital staff, and is considered one of the country’s most influential labor organizations due to its organizing capacity.
SEIU Texas President Elsa Flores said in a statement that Crockett has consistently supported workers’ rights and immigrant families and aligns closely with the union’s priorities.
Crockett, responding to the endorsement, expressed appreciation for SEIU Texas’ support and highlighted her past work alongside labor organizations on issues affecting workers, immigrants, and voting rights. She also emphasized the role of unions in organizing voters and shaping recent election outcomes in Texas.
Crockett is seeking the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate and will face State Rep. James Talarico in the Democratic primary on March 3, 2026. The seat is currently held by Republican Sen. John Cornyn, who is seeking reelection. Cornyn is being challenged in the Republican primary by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
The winner of the Democratic primary will advance to the general election to face the Republican nominee from the Cornyn–Paxton contest, in a race for Cornyn’s U.S. Senate seat that is expected to be among the most closely watched in the nation.
