Houston to Honor ALMAAHH with Proclamation During Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

The Advocates of a Latino Museum of Cultural and Visual Arts & Archive Complex in Houston, Harris County (ALMAAHH) will be formally recognized by the City of Houston during a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at City Hall.

The event, hosted in partnership with the Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Board (MHAB), will take place on Monday, September 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Legacy Room at Houston City Hall. The celebration will feature live performances by Somos Gente, Batalá Houston, and One Sample Cultural Foundation, along with food by Flor y Miel. The program aims to honor the contributions of Latinos to Houston’s history and future while highlighting the city’s diverse cultural identity.

As part of the program, Houston Mayor’s Office will issue a Proclamation of Recognition honoring ALMAAHH for its leadership in advancing Latino arts and culture. The proclamation underscores ALMAAHH’s vision to establish a landmark arts and culture complex in Houston, its ability to unite Latino artists and institutions, and its growing support from philanthropic organizations, community leaders, and cultural partners.

Founded as a nonprofit, ALMAAHH is dedicated to building a national hub for Latino arts, history, and cultural expression. The organization has emerged as a convener and connector, amplifying Latino voices in Houston’s arts community and inspiring new generations through inclusive programming and partnerships.

The September 15 celebration is free and open to the public by reservation. Guests will have the opportunity to connect with community leaders, elected officials, and cultural advocates as Hispanic Heritage Month officially begins.
