BAPS Houston Celebrates Diwali with Fireworks and Cultural Exhibits

Houston’s BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha is opening its doors for a vibrant, multi-day celebration of Diwali, the Hindu “Festival of Lights,” welcoming families and community members to experience the rich traditions, culture, and spirit of togetherness.

The festival, taking place Saturday, October 18, and Sunday, October 19, 2025, will feature an array of cultural exhibitions, hands-on Diwali booths, and the “Journey of Unity”—an immersive experience showcasing how unity strengthens families and communities. Guests can explore the Kids’ Diwali Carnival with games and rides, enjoy the breathtaking Maha Annakut Darshan featuring over 1,000 vegetarian dishes offered in devotion, and marvel at the light and sound show illuminating the Mandir.

On Monday, October 20, Diwali day, the celebration will continue with traditional prayer ceremonies, the Diwali Mahapuja/Sharda Pujan, culminating in a grand fireworks display and evening rituals. The festivities will extend into Wednesday, October 22, marking the Hindu New Year with an all-day viewing of the Annakut, symbolizing gratitude and well wishes for the year ahead.

Located at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Houston, 1150 Brand Lane, Stafford, the event is free and family-friendly, offering Houstonians a chance to immerse themselves in Indian culture, community values, and the joy of Diwali.

This year’s festival promises to be more expansive than ever, with the newly renovated sabha hall transformed into a dynamic cultural showcase. The centerpiece exhibition, “Journey of Unity,” encourages reflection on the power of harmony, highlighting how collaboration and understanding can strengthen communities both locally and globally.

Diwali, celebrated as the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance, comes alive in Houston through this spirited festival, inviting everyone to share in the joy, devotion, and cultural richness of one of Hinduism’s most important celebrations.
