At the Randall Reed Center, parents and students gathered for Spring Independent School District’s annual College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) Night, an event designed to help families of students in grades 8–12 plan for life after high school.
This year’s event drew nearly 100 attendees—an increase from the previous year—and provided students and families with information about postsecondary options, academic readiness, and workforce pathways. Counselors discussed college application timelines and testing requirements, while representatives from the Texas National Guard outlined opportunities for service, tuition support, and job training.
Spring ISD, which serves more than 33,000 students across 35 campuses in north Harris County, offers multiple programs aimed at preparing students for success beyond graduation. Families at the CCMR event received guidance on the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA2), dual credit options through Lone Star College, and the district’s 23 Advanced Placement courses, where qualifying exam scores can earn both college credit and CCMR points.
Career readiness was a major focus of the evening, with district leaders highlighting 32 career and technical education (CTE) pathways. These programs allow students to pursue professional certifications, participate in internships, and, in some cases, earn an associate degree while still in high school.
The district also showcased its efforts to strengthen college and career planning through its CCMR Task Force, which works to ensure that every Spring ISD student graduates with a defined postsecondary plan.
The event’s growth and strong attendance underscored the district’s ongoing commitment to supporting families with practical tools and clear guidance. By the end of the evening, students left with timelines for testing and applications, as well as a deeper understanding of the academic and career pathways available to them.
Spring ISD continues to emphasize readiness across all areas—college, career, and military—reflecting its broader mission to prepare every student for success after graduation.
