Fort Bend County Libraries (FBCL) has added Kanopy PLUS, a new video-streaming platform, giving library cardholders unlimited access to hundreds of films.
Kanopy is a leading provider of high-quality streaming videos that promote learning, spark meaningful conversation, and engage movie enthusiasts. The Kanopy app is compatible with iOS and Android devices, as well as major streaming platforms including Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Samsung Smart TV. Library users who already have the Libby by OverDrive app can also link to Kanopy PLUS through that platform.
FBCL’s subscription to Kanopy PLUS includes two curated video collections: British Cinema & TV and Easy Watching. Both collections are available for unlimited, simultaneous viewing with no waiting periods, and new titles are added regularly.
The British Cinema & TV collection features mysteries, dramas, and comedies for audiences who enjoy British film and television. The Easy Watching collection offers engaging, entertaining films such as My Afternoons with Margueritte, Charade, and Life Animated.
With the rising cost of commercial streaming services, Kanopy PLUS provides an affordable, ad-free alternative for viewers. Access requires only a free FBCL library card, available to all Texas residents. Library card applicants must provide a valid, unexpired photo ID and proof of current address if it is not included on the ID. Cards can be obtained at any FBCL location during business hours.
More information about Kanopy PLUS and instructions for registering can be found on the FBCL website under the eLibrary & FAQs tab at www.fortbendlibraries.gov. Questions can also be directed to any FBCL location or the Communications Office at 281-633-4734.
