GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, actress, and entrepreneur Toni Braxton is turning her chart-topping hits into heartfelt storytelling with two new Lifetime films as part of her multi-picture deal with the network and A+E Global Media. Braxton stars and serves as executive producer on both projects, showcasing stories of resilience, female friendship, and second chances.
The first film, Toni Braxton’s He Wasn’t Man Enough, inspired by her iconic song, premieres Saturday, November 22 at 8/7c as part of Lifetime’s Love of a Lifetime November romance slate. Braxton plays bestselling author Mel Montgomery, whose world is shaken when she discovers her boyfriend is engaged to her estranged college friend. Joining Braxton are NAACP Image Award nominee Essence Atkins and Emmy® nominee Yvette Nicole Brown, who together form a trio of women turning betrayal into empowerment, proving that sisters always come first.
Following in 2026, Toni Braxton’s Breathe Again reunites Braxton with Atkins, alongside Emmy® winner Cree Summer. The film follows three women who meet on a reality dating show, only to face heartbreak in the spotlight. Their shared experiences spark a lasting sisterhood as they start anew in Seattle, navigating love, career, and friendship while learning that the most enduring love story is often found between women.
Both films are executive produced by Braxton, Tanya Lopez, and Kenneth Crear, with Stan Brooks directing and executive producing. He Wasn’t Man Enough features a script by Aireka Muse, Tara Knight, and Angela Nissel, while Breathe Again was written by Nikita Hamilton. Lifetime’s new offerings highlight female-driven storytelling that blends romance, empowerment, and the kind of sisterhood that lasts a lifetime.
