COHAP Outreach Corporation will once again host Houston’s largest annual Back to School Bash, set to take place on Saturday, August 16, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Third Ward Multi-Service Center, located at 3611 Ennis Street. The free community event is designed to support underserved youth and military families as they prepare for a new academic year.
Each year, the event serves thousands of students by offering essential school supplies and services in a festive and resource-rich environment. Attendees can receive free backpacks, school supplies, hygiene kits, socks, tennis shoes, and haircuts. The event also includes a scholarship giveaway, where three high school seniors will be awarded $500 each to support their education.
This year’s program features DJ Innocence, MC Carmen Contreras of 93.7 The Beat, and live performances by the University of Houston Band, Royal Artistry Dance Group, and the Community Music Center. Family-friendly attractions include a puppet show, kids’ activity zone, and fire truck tours.
The event will also feature on-site dental screenings, access to local resource centers, an award ceremony honoring teachers and community leaders, and a series of motivational segments aimed at inspiring students. Raffle prizes, complimentary food, and beverages will also be available throughout the day.
Some of the sponsors and partners for the 2025 event include Community Health Choice, State Representative Ron Reynolds, iHeart Media, University of Houston, Operation Love, 7-Eleven, Constable Precinct 7, PepsiCo, Councilmember Carolyn Evans-Shabazz, and Texas Children’s Health Plan.
The annual Back to School Bash continues to be a key event in Houston’s efforts to support educational readiness and ensure that every child begins the school year with confidence and essential tools for success.
