The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for its Fall 2025 Citizens Police Academy, an 11-week course designed to give residents an inside look at law enforcement operations and community safety programs.

Open to all qualifying adults, the program aims to strengthen community ties and enhance public understanding of the Sheriff’s Office. The free course will run weekly on Thursday evenings, beginning September 4 and continuing through November 20, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sessions will be held at the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy, located at 1521 Eugene Heimann Circle in Richmond.

Participants will hear directly from division commanders and program managers, explore various facets of the department, and take part in hands-on activities. Scheduled tours include the Fort Bend County Detention Center, the 9-1-1 Communications Center, Patrol and Criminal Investigations units, Homeland Security, the Justice Center, and more. Attendees will also meet with members of the executive command, including Sheriff Eric Fagan.

There is no cost to apply, but space is limited to 35 participants. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have no criminal arrest record. The deadline to apply is 4:00 p.m. on August 25, 2025.
