This summer, Holocaust Museum Houston (HMH) invites the public into a profound journey through history with the debut of Unveiled: From the Vault, a powerful and poignant exhibition opening Friday, July 25, 2025, and running through Sunday, January 4, 2026, in the Museum’s Josef and Edith Mincberg Gallery.
Curated directly from Holocaust Museum Houston’s permanent collection, Unveiled: From the Vault showcases rare artifacts never before seen by the public, alongside others that return to view for the first time in years. This extraordinary exhibition highlights the Museum’s ongoing commitment to preserving the memory of the Holocaust through tangible personal items that speak louder than words—each one a window into lives affected, disrupted, or lost.
Visitors will experience an intimate look at photographs, letters, personal belongings, official documents, ghetto and concentration camp currency (scrip), and German propaganda posters—each item selected for its ability to tell a human story amidst one of history’s darkest chapters. Notable among them is the Temporary Polish Identification Card of Holocaust survivor Samuel Spritzer, an emblem of resilience and survival that echoes across generations.

From Europe to Houston: Local Legacy on Display
Adding another layer to this immersive exhibition is a collaboration with Rice University’s Joan and Stanford Alexander South Texas Jewish Archives. These contributions shed light on Houston’s Jewish community, revealing how local families supported soldiers abroad and welcomed refugees in the aftermath of war. Born in response to the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in 2017, the archive represents a critical effort to rescue and preserve priceless pieces of Jewish life and heritage in South Texas.
“This exhibition is not only a reflection of our global history, but it’s also deeply rooted in our Houston community,” said a Museum representative. “We are honored to share these stories, connect generations, and reinforce the critical importance of remembrance, resistance, and education.”
