Frontier Airlines expanded its international footprint at George Bush Intercontinental Airport with the launch of new nonstop service to Central America, beginning with flights to La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. The Guatemala route marked the first of three new nonstop destinations introduced during the week.
Nonstop service to El Salvador International Airport began the following day, with service to Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, launching on Saturday. With the addition of these routes, Frontier now serves 23 nonstop destinations from Bush Intercontinental Airport, further strengthening Houston’s connectivity to Latin America. Flight schedules and frequencies are subject to change.
The route expansion coincided with broader changes to Frontier’s product and customer experience under its “New Frontier” initiative. Among the enhancements is UpFront Plus seating, located in the first two rows of the aircraft and offering additional leg and elbow room along with a guaranteed empty middle seat. The airline has also introduced unlimited companion travel for its most loyal customers, allowing a different companion to be selected on each flight. Looking ahead, Frontier plans to debut First Class seating in early 2026, combining expanded space and comfort with the airline’s low-fare model.
Frontier continues to emphasize value through its FRONTIER Miles frequent flyer program, which rewards customers based on dollars spent rather than distance flown. Members earn 10 miles for every dollar spent, with higher multipliers available at elite status levels. Elite status begins at 10,000 points and includes benefits such as priority boarding, seat selection, and complimentary bags depending on tier. The program also allows family pooling of miles for elite members, making it easier for households to earn and redeem rewards together. Enrollment in the program is free.
To celebrate its continued growth at Bush Intercontinental Airport, Frontier introduced a limited-time promotional fare, with prices starting at $49. The offer applied to select nonstop routes and travel dates in early 2026, subject to availability and standard airline travel rules.
Houston aviation leaders noted that the expanded nonstop service strengthens the region’s international connections, supports economic growth, and enhances travel options as the city prepares to host global visitors, including those expected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The new routes further reinforce Houston’s role as a major gateway between the United States and Latin America.
