The new Smarter Home Bundle, launched in partnership with Vivint, offers qualifying Reliant customers a complimentary Vivint Doorbell Camera Pro and Smart Thermostat, complete with professional installation. This innovative offering aims to simplify home energy management while enhancing grid reliability across the state.

This initiative responds to consumer demand for integrated smart home solutions, with nearly 70% of individuals seeking an all-in-one management system.

Supporting Grid Reliability Through Virtual Power Plants

Beyond individual benefits, the Smarter Home Bundle contributes to broader energy stability. Participants are enrolled in Reliant's Degrees of Difference program, which adjusts thermostats by up to four degrees during peak demand periods to alleviate grid stress. Customers retain full control and can override adjustments at any time.

This program is a step toward establishing a 1-gigawatt virtual power plant (VPP) in Texas by 2035, a collaboration between NRG Energy and Renew Home. By coordinating smart thermostats and other distributed energy resources, the VPP aims to balance supply and demand, enhancing grid resilience amid increasing energy consumption.
