METRO Enhances Service with Weekend Maintenance on METRORail Red Line and I-45 South HOV Lane


Houston commuters, take note! This weekend, METRO is making crucial improvements to ensure a safer, smoother, and more efficient transit experience for all. Essential maintenance and system upgrades will lead to temporary service adjustments on the METRORail Red Line and the I-45 South (Gulf Freeway) HOV/HOT lane.

๐ŸšŠ METRORail Red Line: Modified Service for System Enhancements

From Saturday, April 5, through Sunday, April 6, METRORail Red Line riders will experience service modifications to accommodate maintenance crews working on track, signal, and electrical enhancements.

To keep your commute seamless, bus shuttles will operate every 10 minutes between Fannin South Transit Center and Burnett Transit Center throughout the weekend. METRO encourages riders to plan for additional travel time and use the available resources, such as shuttle maps, to navigate efficiently.

This maintenance effort aims to improve rail reliability, safety, and overall service qualityโ€”ensuring Houstonians continue to enjoy a world-class transit system.

๐Ÿš— I-45 South (Gulf Freeway) HOV/HOT Lane Closure

For those traveling by car, METRO has announced the temporary closure of the I-45 South HOV/HOT lane on April 5-6 due to scheduled maintenance by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Commuters should prepare alternative routes for smoother travel. Normal operations will resume on Monday, April 7.
