These honorees are the heartbeat of the Pink Awards, and their stories of perseverance remind us all why this event matters. As April Love, the visionary behind the event, puts it, "This night is about more than recognition—it's about advocacy, courage, and the fight for equity in breast cancer treatment."

April Love’s Mission: A Survivor’s Story

At the helm of the Pink Awards is  April Love, a 13-year breast cancer survivor whose personal journey of overcoming Stage 3 ductal carcinoma fuels her passion to make a difference. Diagnosed on Christmas Eve in 2009, April’s life was forever changed. Today, she is not only thriving but also using her platform to advocate for Black women’s health, bringing much-needed attention to the disparities in breast cancer treatment.

“As a survivor, this event is deeply personal to me,” April shares. “Black women face unique challenges when it comes to breast cancer, and we are often left out of genetic research and clinical studies. The Pink Awards is my way of advocating for equitable access to care and educating others about these disparities.”

With over 310,000 new breast cancer cases expected in the U.S. this year, the work April and her team do is critical. Black women are not only more likely to be diagnosed with aggressive forms of the disease, such as triple-negative breast cancer, but they are also less likely to receive timely, effective treatment. The Touch Black Breast Cancer Alliance, in partnership with the Pink Awards, is working tirelessly to close these gaps in education and treatment.

A Night of Black Excellence

The Pink Awards is a full celebration of Black excellence, featuring pink carpet arrivals and a night filled with inspiring stories of survival and perseverance. This year’s honorees will not only be recognized for their work but will also share their powerful stories, offering attendees a deeply moving and motivating experience.

But this event isn’t just about the awards. It’s about coming together as a community to rally around those affected by breast cancer. It’s about acknowledging the disparities in healthcare and fighting for equitable treatment for all.

For those attending or tuning in, the night promises to be a reminder of the strength, resilience, and beauty of the human spirit, especially in the face of life’s most difficult battles.
