Houston Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week, following a remarkable, record-setting performance that led his team to a 19-13 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football. Fairbairn’s precision and power have once again solidified his reputation as one of the most reliable kickers in the NFL, making history with his latest display of excellence.
Record-Breaking Kicks That Made History
In Week 2, Fairbairn delivered a perfect performance, connecting on all four of his field goal attempts, with kicks ranging from 56, 47, 59, and 53 yards His accuracy and range were unmatched, as he became the first kicker in NFL history to make six 50-plus-yard field goals within a two-game span. Fairbairn's outstanding consistency from long distance set him apart, making him the only kicker in Week 2 to nail three field goals from beyond 50 yards.
His 59-yard field goal just before halftime was the longest in the NFL this season and now ranks as the second-longest in Texans franchise history. Fairbairn’s contributions were pivotal in securing the Texans' hard-fought victory and earned him well-deserved recognition across the league.
