Harris-Walz Campaign and DNC Launch Voter Registration Push at 60 HBCUs for National Voter Registration Day

The Harris-Walz campaign, in partnership with the Democratic National Committee (DNC), is launching an aggressive nationwide voter registration initiative this week in honor of National Voter Registration Day and National Black Voter Registration Day. The effort focuses on mobilizing young Black voters through in-person and virtual canvassing events at 60 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across key battleground states, including Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. The campaign aims to engage voters on multiple platforms, including a takeover of Revolt’s homepage, a leading media outlet for hip hop, news, and culture.

Vice President Kamala Harris will play a central role in this push by participating in a conversation with the National Association of Black Journalists in Philadelphia. The event will take place before an audience of students from Lincoln University and Cheyney University, as well as NABJ members. Coinciding with National HBCU Week, the campaign’s outreach includes a targeted ad campaign and nine in-person events in North Carolina, home to the second-highest number of HBCUs.

To further enhance voter accessibility, the campaign is launching the National Voter Assistance Textline, offering easily accessible information in both English and Spanish. Voters will be guided through the registration process using the DNC’s IWillVote.com platform. In addition to the Revolt homepage takeover, the Harris-Walz campaign is set to launch another voter registration drive in collaboration with a major Black media outlet, focusing on National Black Voter Registration Day on September 20. This partnership aims to ensure Black voters are informed and ready to make their voices heard at the polls.
