Houston Pets Alive! (HPA!) has announced an exciting new partnership with BARC Animal Shelter through its Adopt Together! Program. This collaboration will feature the first-ever facilitated adoption event between the two organizations, taking place on Saturday, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Houston Pets Alive!. 

  

During this event, potential adopters will have the chance to meet adoptable dogs from both BARC and HPA! in a relaxed, friendly environment that differs from the typical shelter setting. With ample space for interaction, the event aims to provide a welcoming atmosphere for adopters and their future pets. The family-friendly occasion will also include food and refreshments.

The Adopt Together! Program, launched earlier this year, has already positively impacted adoptions at BARC by enhancing customer service with dedicated volunteer adoption counselors. These trained HPA! volunteers work directly with partner shelters like BARC, assisting adopters throughout the process and helping them find pets that suit their lifestyle and preferences. By equipping its volunteers with comprehensive training, HPA! supports BARC's efforts to increase adoption rates and improve the overall adoption experience.

"Our mission for Adopt Together! is to increase the number of positive adoption outcomes by ensuring that every potential adopter is properly matched with a pet that fits their lifestyle and needs," said Noelle Delgado, Executive Director at Houston Pets Alive!. She expressed excitement about the partnership with BARC, noting that the central, relaxed environment will make the adoption process more accessible and enjoyable for the community.

Since its launch in June, the Adopt Together! Program has facilitated over 200 adoptions at BARC, with a steady increase in adoptions each month. "We’re thrilled to partner with HPA! for this event, which offers a unique opportunity for our dogs to be seen in a new light, outside the traditional shelter setting," stated Jarrad Mears, BARC Shelter Director. He emphasized that the relaxed atmosphere aims to foster meaningful connections between potential adopters and the shelter pets, ultimately helping them find loving homes.
