The Children’s Museum Houston’s “Noir Ball: A Celebration of Haunted Elegance” mesmerized nearly 500 guests on Oct. 26 at The Corinthian in Downtown Houston. The event, designed to evoke gothic sophistication, raised an impressive $1.14 million—the second-highest total in the Museum’s history—to support child-centered learning initiatives. Funds raised will help provide life-changing educational programs and exhibits that inspire over 1.3 million annual visitors.

Chaired by Whitney and Ryan Burns alongside Allison and Iván Chávez, with Kathryn and Travis Boeker and Cassandra and Ryan Dalton as underwriting chairs, the event exuded a haunting allure. Giant crystal chandeliers cast an eerie glow across tables set with candelabras and caged roses, while a grand fountain filled with rose petals and candles released a fog, adding to the event’s ghostly charm. Guests, dressed in elegant dark attire including lace veils, horns, and sweeping gowns, found themselves transported into a world of gothic chic, crafted by Bergner & Johnson Design.

Adding to the night’s haunting vibe, a thunder and lightning display punctuated the event, and desserts designed as candle-like cakes enchanted attendees with their dark sweetness. A decadent meal, curated by Jackson & Company, completed the experience, ensuring guests were well-fed as they embraced the eerie atmosphere. Live entertainment from The Spazmatics filled the dance floor as guests danced under chandelier light, channeling their “creatures of the night” for a lively evening of ‘80s hits and high energy.

Adding a layer of dark whimsy, characters like Maleficent, Dracula, and Wednesday Addams roamed the venue, while live and silent auctions led by Devorah Krieger and Elizabeth McIngvale-Mackey drew spirited bids. Highlights included a 1.08 carat diamond necklace from Thomas Markle Jewelers, a lavish private dinner in The Corinthian’s historic vault, and a Costa Rica penthouse getaway, as well as a private jet experience donated by Jackie and Gary Richert. Additional prizes included diamond earrings, Labrador Retriever mix rescue puppies, and a night at the Museum itself for an after-hours adventure. During the “Last Paddle Standing” showdown, Yana Rodilosso emerged as the winner of a bangle donated by Zadok Jewelers.

A raffle added further excitement, with a pair of handcrafted diamond rings from Valobra Master Jewelers awarded to a lucky winner. Proceeds from the evening will help the Museum continue to deliver enriching experiences that foster imagination and learning, cementing its role as a vital resource for Houston families and children.
