YMCA of Greater Houston Hosts Annual “Be a Kid Again” ForeverWell Senior Trip

The YMCA of Greater Houston hosted its annual “Be a Kid Again” ForeverWell trip at YMCA Camp Cullen in Trinity, Texas, on October 16 and 17. Over 400 senior adults aged 55 and older from the Houston area gathered for a day of relaxation, fun, and camaraderie at the 500-acre camp.

The event, part of the Y’s ForeverWell program, aimed to bring joy and adventure to the senior community, allowing participants to relive childhood memories while creating new ones in a scenic setting.

Stephen Ives, president and CEO of YMCA of Greater Houston, emphasized the importance of community engagement: “The ForeverWell program encourages adults to stay active, engaged, and connected. The ‘Be a Kid Again’ trip exemplifies how the Y fosters relationships and belonging while creating lasting memories.”

Activities included canoeing, fishing, horseback riding, board games, zip lining, and arts and crafts, ensuring options for all activity levels. Seniors enjoyed the picturesque scenery along Lake Livingston while connecting with peers and promoting their physical and mental well-being.

The YMCA of Greater Houston is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all community members, and this trip is one of many initiatives supporting healthy aging and community among seniors. For more information about the ForeverWell program, visit YMCAhouston.org
