Hyundai Dominates at Fox Factory 120: Secures Fifth Consecutive Manufacturers' Championship

In a thrilling culmination of the 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Championship (IMPC), Hyundai Motorsport has once again proven why it’s a powerhouse in the motorsports world. At Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Hyundai clinched its fifth consecutive Manufacturers’ Championship in the TCR class, putting the cherry on top of a phenomenal season. The race wasn’t just any victory; it was a showcase of precision driving, brilliant strategy, and a testament to Hyundai’s dominance on the track.

Bryson Morris Sets the Pace

From the onset, Hyundai drivers were a force to be reckoned with, led by the talented Bryson Morris. In the No. 77 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, Morris stormed through qualifying, not only securing his second TCR pole position of the 2024 season but also setting a blistering new lap record for the TCR class. This wasn’t just about speed, though — Morris strategically positioned Hyundai to occupy four of the top five starting spots, laying the foundation for what would be a memorable race day.

Fuel Management Brilliance: The No. 98 Hyundai Shines

Race day, however, belonged to Mason Filippi and Mark Wilkins in the No. 98 Hyundai Elantra N TCR. Filippi expertly managed his opening stint, keeping pace with the frontrunners while meticulously conserving fuel — a move that would pay dividends in the final laps. After a smooth pitstop transition, Wilkins took over and engaged in a nail-biting battle for the lead. As the No. 99 Hyundai Elantra ran out of fuel in the dramatic final lap, Wilkins swooped in to take the checkered flag, securing victory for Hyundai.

This race win, their second consecutive, catapulted Filippi and Wilkins to the runner-up spot in the Drivers' Championship — a remarkable achievement that showcases Hyundai’s all-around strength, not just in the manufacturers’ standings, but also in driver talent.

Team Effort Secures Hyundai’s Glory

It wasn’t just the No. 98 that impressed. Hyundai's lineup showed its depth and resilience. Preston Brown, starting last among the Hyundais in the No. 76 Elantra N TCR, expertly navigated traffic, setting the stage for teammate Denis Dupont to charge up the field, ultimately bringing home a solid second-place finish. The No. 33 Hyundai, piloted by Harry Gottsacker and Robert Wickens, battled fiercely for the podium, eventually finishing just outside in fourth place after a strong showing throughout the race.

Even the No. 77 of Taylor Hagler and Bryson Morris, despite a long pitstop, recovered to finish a respectable eighth. It was a team-wide effort that underscored Hyundai’s technical prowess, driver skill, and their ability to remain calm under pressure.

Hyundai’s Continued Dominance: SRO TC America Success

Hyundai’s motorsports dominance isn’t limited to IMSA. The manufacturer swept the SRO TC America series as well, securing the Manufacturers’, Teams’, and Drivers’ Championships. Led by Jeff Ricca and his Ricca Autosport team, Hyundai dominated the field, capturing top finishes in 11 of the 14 rounds. This triumph across multiple racing series cements Hyundai’s reputation as a motorsport juggernaut.

Racing for a Cause: Hyundai Hope On Wheels

Amid all the accolades, Hyundai’s commitment to giving back hasn’t faltered. Through the Hyundai Hope On Wheels initiative, the manufacturer pledged $100 for every lap led by a Hyundai Elantra N TCR during the season. At Road Atlanta, Hyundai led 69 laps, adding $6,900 to their donation total, which now exceeds $38,000. This initiative supports pediatric cancer research, demonstrating that Hyundai’s winning spirit extends beyond the track.
