Houston, get ready for an exciting celebration of our local heroes—our teachers! Tomorrow, Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 10 AM, Avalanche Food Group (AFG) is hosting a heartwarming event at Twin Peaks Kirby, located at 4527 Lomitas St., Houston, TX 77098, where 80 deserving Houston area teachers will receive grants to help stock their classrooms for the school year.
This generous giveaway is part of AFG’s annual back-to-school initiative, designed to ease the financial burden that so many teachers face when purchasing classroom supplies. From pencils to technology tools, these grants are a helping hand to Houston educators committed to shaping the future. With school already in full swing, these grants are sure to make a big difference!
Avalanche Food Group: Where Community Meets Kindness
Avalanche Food Group, the proud owners of 11 Twin Peaks restaurants (nine in Texas and two in Indiana) and Houston’s first Bread Zeppelin restaurant, is making this grant presentation a reality through the incredible efforts of their August fundraising drive. They rallied communities across all their locations, encouraging customers to round up their checks to support educators. Their combined efforts raised a whopping $35,578!
Ricky Rosa, COO of Avalanche Food Group, shared the motivation behind the initiative: "We know that teachers often reach into their own pockets to ensure their students have the supplies they need. This grant program is our way of showing gratitude and supporting those who do so much for the children in our communities."
A Special Day for 80 Houston Teachers
Tomorrow’s celebration at Twin Peaks Kirby will see the founders of Avalanche Food Group—brothers John, Joe, and Ricky Rosa—hand-deliver checks to the teachers who applied for and were selected to receive these classroom grants. It’s not just a symbolic gesture; it’s a tangible way to support those who work tirelessly to make sure their students have the resources to succeed. These grants are more than financial aid; they’re a way of saying, “Thank you, teachers—we see you, and we appreciate all that you do.”
Big Hearts, Big Impact
The Rosa brothers’ commitment to community service goes far beyond the classroom. Since founding Avalanche Food Group in 2009, they’ve become known not just for serving delicious food but for serving the community with equal passion. From supporting educators to honoring veterans, first responders, and military families, AFG has donated around $500,000 to various causes.
One of their most beloved traditions is their Annual Christmas Tree Giveaway, which began in 2013. To date, they’ve given away over 5,000 Christmas trees to veterans, military families, teachers, first responders, and those in need. This kind of sustained dedication to giving back is a testament to their belief that businesses can—and should—be pillars of support for their local communities.
Beyond Houston: Making a National Difference
While tomorrow’s event will take place in Houston, Avalanche Food Group’s generosity knows no borders. Teachers in Indiana, home to two of AFG’s Twin Peaks locations, will also receive grant funding in the coming weeks. It’s all part of a larger effort to support educators in every community they serve.
Supporting Houston’s Future
There’s something special about this moment for Houston. In a city known for its resilience and community spirit, seeing a local business step up in such a big way to support education is inspiring. The teachers receiving these grants will return to their classrooms with not only supplies but with renewed encouragement and recognition for the vital role they play in shaping our future.
So, mark your calendars for Saturday, October 12, and head over to Twin Peaks Kirby to witness this incredible outpouring of support for Houston’s educators. Let’s celebrate the teachers who make a difference every day—and the community members who stand behind them.
