Mayor Whitmire Conducts Aerial Assessment Over Kingwood Amid Rising Flood Concerns

Houston, as our community faces the challenges brought by recent heavy rains, Mayor John Whitmire took to the skies with the Houston Police Department Air Support Unit to oversee the affected areas in Kingwood. This Saturday, alongside Police Chief Troy Finner, Mayor Whitmire gained a firsthand view of the impacts of rising waters threatening our neighborhoods.

From above, the extent of the damage became clear, strengthening our city’s resolve to support the residents and ensure rapid deployment of necessary resources. Mayor Whitmire is actively coordinating with both local and state officials, including conversations with Governor Abbott and Lt Governor Patrick, to secure immediate aid from the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

In response, teams from Houston Fire, Police, METRO, Public Works, and the Office of Emergency Management are on high alert, strategically positioning high-water rescue vehicles to ensure community safety.
