Today, Prairie View A&M University’s week-long inauguration celebration continued with the highly anticipated Investiture Ceremony. During the formal installation, President Tomikia P. LeGrande was presented with the Presidential Medallion by the Chancellor of The Texas A&M University System.
The ceremony proved an occasion befitting Women’s History Month, as state and local officials, delegates from prominent universities across the country, and representatives of Prairie View A&M faculty, staff, and students shared praise and expressed admiration for the leader described as passionate, genuine, driven, and the ideal person to lead the University into a new era of excellence and productivity.
President LeGrande offered a powerful example of her fierce advocacy for and dedication to PVAMU’s role in academia. “The vision for Prairie View A&M University will continuously challenge the standard, and it will continuously push us past mediocrity.” Dr. LeGrande added, “The University will be a premier research-intensive public HBCU that serves as a national model for student success.”
Dr. Michael L. McFrazier, Prairie View A&M’s Interim Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, said the momentous occasion marked a new and exciting chapter in the University’s history. "Dr. Tomikia P. LeGrande’s visionary leadership, prolific knowledge, and proven experience in advancing academic excellence, accessibility, and affordability in higher education will undoubtedly lead PVAMU to be recognized as a national model for student access and success."
