Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) stands on the cusp of history as it prepares to inaugurate Dr. Tomikia P. LeGrande as its ninth president. This momentous occasion, set to take place from Tuesday, March 19 to Saturday, March 23, 2024, will mark a significant milestone in PVAMU's illustrious 147-year legacy, as Dr. LeGrande becomes only the second woman to ascend to this esteemed position.
Throughout its storied history, PVAMU has been a beacon of opportunity and excellence, nurturing generations of African American engineers, nurses, educators, and community leaders. Under Dr. LeGrande's visionary leadership, the university is poised to break even more barriers and set new standards of academic achievement and accessibility.
The week-long series of events celebrating Dr. LeGrande's inauguration will provide an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the wider community to engage with her and partake in the festivities. The pinnacle of the inauguration week will be Dr. LeGrande's inaugural address on Friday, March 22, 2024. Against the backdrop of the William "Billy" J. Nicks, Sr. Building (Baby Dome), Dr. LeGrande will share her vision for PVAMU's future while paying homage to its rich heritage and tradition of resilience.
