Houston, prepare for a remarkable literary event as the 2024 National Black Book Festival (NBBF) returns from October 17-19, marking its 17th anniversary. This year's festival promises to be a star-studded celebration of Black literature, featuring an impressive lineup of best-selling authors and prominent figures.
Headlining Authors
Headlining the festival are TV personality and best-selling author Dr. Ian Smith, renowned White House correspondent and author April Ryan, and Houston's own best-selling author ReShonda Tate. Joining them are urban fiction sensation K'Wan and celebrated Christian fiction author Vanessa Miller. These literary luminaries will captivate audiences with their unique stories and experiences.
Festival Highlights
The NBBF will take place at Fallbrook Church's Brook Sports Facility, located at 12512 Walters Road in Northwest Houston. Over 100 authors from across the United States, representing more than 20 genres, will exhibit and sell their books at this vibrant event.
The festival features a variety of free activities, including author exhibits, seminars, and special author sessions. The Saturday Children's Festival, a beloved tradition, offers a delightful experience for young readers and their families.
Featured Author Appearances
On Saturday, October 19th, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the featured authors. Books will be available for purchase on Friday and Saturday, with authors signing books and taking photos with fans shortly after their scheduled appearances. This interactive experience allows readers to connect with their favorite authors on a personal level.
Enriching Seminars and Special Events
The festival includes ten free seminars covering a wide range of literary and career-building topics. These sessions are designed to inspire and educate aspiring writers and avid readers alike. Additionally, three special events will require ticket purchases, offering exclusive opportunities to engage with literary experts.
