Starting June 1, 2024, key locations including Alief Regional Library, Central Library, and all three History Research Centers will offer expanded hours, providing greater access to a wealth of resources, services, and programs.

Grand Opening of the Dr. Shannon Walker Neighborhood Library

To celebrate this milestone, the community is invited to the grand opening of the new Dr. Shannon Walker Neighborhood Library on June 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will feature remarks by Mayor Pro Tem and Council Member for District K, Martha Castex-Tatum, and NASA astronaut Dr. Shannon Walker, for whom the library is named. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the new facility and learn more about the library's extensive resources, free services, and exciting upcoming events.
