In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, the Houston Housing Authority (HHA) is stepping up to alleviate the hardships faced by residents. Hundreds of thousands of Houstonians are struggling without power in record-breaking heat, facing food insecurity, and experiencing severe financial strain. HHA is committed to supporting the community and aiding in recovery efforts.

HHA will host a free food and resources drive, distributing food, water, ice, snacks, and cleaning supplies to help residents get back on their feet. Cleaning supplies and other household items will also be available. HHA aims to serve over 1,000 residents.

"Beryl left a path of destruction and many in our community are struggling, so HHA is working to shine a light of hope with a giveaway of essential supplies," said David A. Northern, Sr., President and CEO of Houston Housing Authority. "We are committed to working with our partners to provide essential resources and support during this difficult time."

The event will take place on Friday, July 12, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Houston Housing Authority Main Office, located at 2640 Fountain View Drive, 77057. HHA, in partnership with the Houston Food Bank and Gulf Coast Community Services Association, will distribute food, water, ice, snacks, MREs, cleaning supplies, and produce.

In addition to the drive, HHA is partnering with Gulf Coast Community Services Association to offer financial assistance for utility bills to HHA clients, many of whom have been unable to work due to the storm. Residents seeking assistance should bring a copy of their latest utility bill and be prepared to complete a brief questionnaire.
