In a groundbreaking move to fortify assistance for families with seriously ill children, Ronald McDonald House Houston and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Houston/Galveston proudly announce their merger. The newly established entity, "Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston" (RMHC Greater Houston), is set to elevate its impact by combining resources, increasing capacity, and extending its reach to underserved areas, including The Woodlands, Katy, Sugar Land, and beyond.
Following meticulous planning and a year of thoughtful considerations, a joint task force representing both charities decided to merge the two entities, which have independently operated for over three decades. The first Ronald McDonald House opened its doors in 1981, expanding to Holcombe House in 1997, while Houston's RMHC chapter was established in 1988. The merger aligns the two organizations with successfully combined RMHH and RMHC chapters nationwide.
The merger will not interrupt the free programs offered by each organization, ensuring uninterrupted services for families. RMHC Greater Houston, under the leadership of CEO Cristina Vetrano, will oversee various services, including Ronald McDonald Houses, Family Lounges, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile operated with Texas Children’s Hospital, and grants for Behavioral Health Mobile, Hospitality Carts, CHEER Rooms, and more.
Cristina Vetrano, with over 30 years of experience as a leader in the not-for-profit sector, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "By coming together as Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston, we aim to support even more families with seriously ill children. This merger enables us to do our part to help create a stronger and more inclusive foundation for the Greater Houston community, and we are filled with gratitude and delight to enter this next chapter together."
