Menefee reflected on Burks’s profound impact, noting that his service and kindness had a lasting influence on those around him. “The void left by Darron’s passing is deeply felt, but his legacy of friendship, service, and compassion will continue to inspire us all. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, fraternity brothers, the Dallas Police Department, and the entire Dallas community during this incredibly challenging time. Rest in peace, my brother. You will be profoundly missed.”

In his statement, Menefee also expressed support for the recovery of the two additional officers injured in the incident, joining fellow Texans in wishing them a swift and full recovery.
