AARP Sponsors Local Screenings of A&E's 'The Chicano Squad' in Houston and Austin to Celebrate Latino Legacy"

AARP is excited to announce its support and sponsorship of local screenings of A&E's "The Chicano Squadin Houston and Austin, Texas. This sponsorship reflects AARP's commitment to uplifting Hispanic/Latino stories and honoring the legacy of "The Chicano Squad," a pioneering group of bilingual patrol officers who were promoted to form Houston's first all-Latino homicide unit in 1979. Known as "The Chicano Squad," these officers earned the trust of both the community and the department, becoming one of Houston's most highly decorated law enforcement units despite facing challenges like racism, corruption, and high crime rates.
