Houston Community Unites for Walk to Defeat ALS® at Lone Star College Montgomery

On October 5, 2024, the Houston community will come together to support those battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, during the Walk to Defeat ALS in The Woodlands. Hosted by The ALS Association, the event will take place at Lone Star College Montgomery, where families, friends, caregivers, and advocates will gather to raise awareness and funds to combat this devastating neurodegenerative disease.

ALS is a relentless condition that gradually impairs the ability to walk, move, speak, swallow, and eventually breathe. With no known cause or cure, the need for support and research is critical. The Walk to Defeat ALS is an opportunity for the community to stand in solidarity with those affected, offering hope and resources to make ALS a livable condition for everyone, everywhere.

Hundreds of participants are expected to attend, including those currently living with ALS, their loved ones, and others who have been touched by the disease. Many will walk in honor of those currently fighting ALS, while others will walk in memory of those who have lost their battle. Together, they will fuel the mission to provide care, comfort, and research for treatments and a cure.
