Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD) is set to roll out its innovative Stopfinder bus software system in the coming weeks, a significant upgrade designed to enhance safety and communication for students, parents, and school staff. This new system will empower families to verify bus route information, track arrival times, and confirm that their children are safely aboard the correct bus.
Stopfinder promises to deliver nearly real-time, accurate updates on student ridership, ensuring parents have peace of mind regarding their children's transportation. The system is secure, accessible only to authorized and registered users, making it a reliable tool for enhancing student safety.
A key feature of the Stopfinder system is the ID badge that all FBISD students will receive at the start of the school year. These badges will serve multiple purposes: students will scan them when boarding and exiting the bus, allowing drivers to verify that each child is on the right bus and being picked up or dropped off at the correct stop. Additionally, the ID badges can be used within the school to access the cafeteria and check out library books.
To ensure a smooth transition, students will receive protective sleeves and lanyards for their ID badges, which they are expected to wear both at school and during bus rides. A few weeks after the school year begins, parents will receive a notification prompting them to download the Stopfinder app on their smartphones, which will provide further details about their child's bus status.
