In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is stepping up to provide crucial support for Texans in need. On August 9, FEMA will open Disaster Recovery Centers in Matagorda and Montgomery Counties to offer personalized assistance to those affected by the devastating hurricane.
Center Locations:
Matagorda County: Palacios Education Pavilion, 693 S. Bay Blvd, Palacios, TX 77465
Montgomery County: Lone Star Convention Center, 9055 Airport Rd, Conroe, TX 77303
Operating hours for the centers are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. While these centers will remain closed on Sundays, they are fully equipped to address the needs arising from Hurricane Beryl as well as the storms and flooding that occurred between April 26 and June 5.
These Disaster Recovery Centers are designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring that all individuals, including those with disabilities or functional needs, can receive the support they require. Each center is equipped with assistive technology to provide a seamless experience for everyone.
Residents from a broad range of counties, including Austin, Bowie, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Jasper, Jackson, Jefferson, Liberty, Orange, Matagorda, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Polk, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, Walker, Waller, and Wharton, are encouraged to visit any open center. No appointment is necessary, and representatives from both FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be on hand to offer their expertise.
For those looking to expedite their visit to a Disaster Recovery Center, FEMA recommends applying for assistance online, by phone, or through the FEMA App prior to arriving. This proactive step can significantly reduce wait times and ensure that Texans receive the help they need more efficiently.
