Honda has once again underscored its dedication to nurturing the dreams and academic potential of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) students by announcing a substantial $500,000 grant to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF). This generous contribution is earmarked for the 2024-2025 academic year, supporting scholarships specifically for HBCU band students who demonstrate both academic prowess and financial need.

In partnership with TMCF, Honda’s commitment enriches its long-standing relationship with HBCUs. This initiative coincides beautifully with the eagerly anticipated return of the Honda Battle of the Bands in 2025, the premier national showcase celebrating the talent and musical excellence of HBCU marching bands. This scholarship fund will provide 41 deserving students with up to $10,000 each ($5,000 per semester) to cover tuition and fees, ensuring their educational journeys are uninterrupted by financial hurdles.

Eligibility and Application Details

To qualify for the TMCF-Honda HBCU Band Scholarship, applicants must be full-time undergraduate students at an HBCU for the 2024-2025 academic year, actively participating in any university band program. Eligible students should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate financial need, verified through the 2024-2025 FAFSA filed with their institution. The scholarship is open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or international students with an appropriate visa, and requires a two-minute video submission addressing a specific application question.
